BIRDING: OBSESSION OF OBSERVATION

According to the Smithsonian Magazine of 2021, there are at least 50 billion birds worldwide, an astonishing six birds per person. Colombia has the largest bird population in the world, followed by Peru and Brazil

This exhibition examines the following topics in relation to birds: the intertwining of politics and sociology; biology and extinction; personal iconography and metaphor; nests; and the joy of beauty. I have brought together all manner of media in the curation of this exhibition: painting, video, NFT, drawing, immersive sculpture, and digital photography.

FLORA: THE IMPERMANENCE OF BEAUTY

The metaphor of flowers is like no other as it personalizes this pinnacle of the cycles of a plant.  Depictions of the stages of their lives are perfect parallels to our life cycle: birth, fecundity, death.

This exhibition brings together art styles from 17th century Dutch still lifes to a 3D capture and presentation of the blooming of a flower in Virtual Reality. The works have the commonality of topic: flowers. However, each artist brings their unique vision, creating a textured and varied exhibition with a wide range of expression.
